We are looking for a qualified Community Engagement Manager to join our marketing team! Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, the Community Engagement Manager will work on the development and implementation of various projects related to our community outreach strategy, ensuring that our presence and support are strongly felt in our communities. You will work closely with the leadership team to identify, manage, and build partnerships and relationships with peer organizations, government entities and officials, donors, ambassadors and fellows. You may be assigned other duties as necessary, supporting the leadership team in activities such as advocacy and event planning.

Our ideal candidate has exceptional oral and written communication skills and is able to develop engaging content. You should be a ‘people person’ with great customer service skills and the ability to moderate online and offline conversations with our community. If you are a self-driven and ambitious tech-savvy professional, we would love to meet you! We are expecting you to be also experienced in social media, PR and promotional events.

Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions

  • Fully manage the Island Innovation Ambassador, Academic Council and Fellowship programs;
  • Design and manage the annual outreach plan and calendar;
  • Identify, build, and manage relationships with peer organizations, government agencies, industry professionals, supporters and journalists;
  • Develop processes for onboarding new members to the community. Constantly learn, research, and experiment with new community building ideas;
  • Serve as organizational point of contact for new relationships and partnerships, and coordinate initial communications between new external contacts and organization’s leadership team;
  • Set, plan and implement communication, engagement campaigns and events focused on the community groups;
  • Monitor, moderate and manage community sentiment and help build a healthy community. Protect the community from bots and other malicious actors;
  • Provide engaging text, image and video content for social media community groups and email correspondence;
  • Respond to community members in a timely manner;
  • Monitor and highlight insights within our community that can be helpful to our marketing and sales teams;
  • Measure and report on the success of community growth and engagement initiatives with qualitative and quantitative insights.

Essential requirements and qualifications

  • English fluency with strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • High-level experience with different social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn;
  • Ability to create design materials on Canva, such as infographics, banners, social media posts, etc;
  • Experience building online relationships with professionals and organizations;
  • Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas, goals, proposals, procedures, and program plans in writing to broad audiences;
  • Experience defining program requirements and building repeatable, scalable processes;
  • Ability to influence without authority, across all levels of a diverse organization;
  • Experience operating with a great deal of independence in a lean, fast-moving organization.

Desirable qualifications

  • Fluency in other languages is a plus (especially Spanish);
  • Interest and knowledge in sustainable development and island communities;
  • Experience creating video scripts and video content;
  • Video-editing skills;
  • Understanding and experience working with different organization profiles such as NGOs, governments, and private companies;
  • Experience working in a remote team environment.

Salary

Depending on experience. Please submit your salary expectations when you apply. This is a full-time remote position with some flexibility in structure. Please note that we are a small, community-focused social enterprise and salary expectations should be in line with the non-profit sector.
