Description
Puerto Rico is one of the world’s hottest energy markets. This panel and discussion will highlight key projects in Puerto Rico and opportunities to provide and access financial solutions to help bring projects online with the goal of encouraging greater investment, from established traditional technologies to startups, pilots, and R&D.
Speakers
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Ms. Karen Mojica Franceschi is a lawyer, notary public, and Communications expert. She serves as Director of Business Development at Invest Puerto Rico, where she works to attract companies and investment, mainly in manufacturing, biosciences, financial and professional services, creative industries, and research and development. Karen is a collaborative leader driven by deep commitment and passion for the island.
Prior to this role, she held positions in the Puerto Rico Destination Marketing Organization, Discover Puerto Rico, in the Puerto Rico Tax Incentives Office and in the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, and she worked for more than 15 years in Media, both as a TV talent and spearheading digital and printed publications. She has a B.A. in Journalism and Public Communication from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico Law School.
Sam is strategic researcher and business developer with a background in international and economic development in Latin America. At Invest Puerto Rico he focuses on energy investment opportunities and solutions, sustainability and efficiency, and critical infrastructure for the island’s competitiveness. He leads Invest Puerto Rico’s Energy Committee, a forum constituted by private and public sector partners to advance energy initiatives on the island. Prior to Invest Puerto Rico, Sam received his Master’s in Public Policy jointly from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He received his BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Sam is based out of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
