Islands are developing remote work visas to combat the economic effects of COVID-19. However, the volume of programs is quickly increasing, and differentiating your visa scheme and attracting the right digital nomad audience is challenging. Island Innovation offers a unique insight to this audience which allows us to develop and promote a program for your island that is both sustainable and economically viable.
How we can help
There are a number of ways Island Innovation can assist your island in either developing or promoting a remote work program. We can support you and your team, through training and consultancy, to create and market your visa scheme. Alternatively, if you have an existing scheme that hasn’t the traction you wanted, we can help you reposition and market to the digital nomad audience.
How we work
We work in collaboration with you to develop a successful remote worker program and to create a marketing strategy that ensures you have the level of applications needed to support your economic objectives. We do this through:
- Market surveys and benchmarking
- Remote worker program development
- Webinars and online events to promote your destination
- Creating and sharing engaging content
- Managing your social media platforms
- Writing and distributing press releases
- Data collection
Collaboration is essential for the program’s development. We work closely with you and your team to establish the scheme objectives and to ensure that the project development plan is both sustainable and economically viable. Our team all work remotely so we are able to work both flexibly and responsively.
Our work
"At the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance (SCELG), we have been very impressed with the work that the team at Island Innovation have been doing to help build sustainable island communities across the world, combined with their aim of building virtual bridges between islands through their events such as the Virtual Island Summit. This, as well as the substantial network that Island Innovation has built led us to reach out to the team to produce a joint survey aimed at better understanding how COVID-19 has been dealt with on islands globally. We were very impressed with the large response to this joint survey which was used as part of the policy brief, ‘Coronavirus: A Global Island Perspective’, co-authored by me and James Ellsmoor. Following on from this joint work between SCELG and Island Innovation, I then participated in the Island Innovation Island Responses webinar series. For high-quality academic reports, analysis and research related to sustainable development, renewable energy and islands, I recommend contacting Island Innovation."

Dominica launched its remote working visa, Work in Nature in March this year, and we immediately partnered with Island Innovation as a leader in connecting stakeholders on their various platforms. Working with the Team was easy, advice given was sound, and the relations built will continue as we continue to showcase Dominica as the Nature Island of the Caribbean!
